The Locust of MM2 Map Voting in MM2 of The Locust
Pick the next nest before the round loads — how voting works, what candidates appear, and when to skip.
MM2 of The Locust uses a map-voting system in the lobby to let players choose the next nest layout before a round starts. Unlike static map selection in some Roblox games, this system gives the lobby agency over which environment they will survive (or hunt) in. Understanding how the vote works, what maps are available, and when to skip a candidate can mean the difference between a readable layout and a corridor maze you have never seen.
This page covers the mechanics as observed in the live Pre-Alpha as of September 2026. THE STALKERS OG has not published official documentation on vote timing, tie resolution, or late-vote behavior. What is documented here comes from direct observation and community reports on 30-player public servers.
How map voting works
When a round ends and players return to the lobby, a vote screen appears. The screen shows thumbnail images of available map candidates — usually two to four options depending on the current build. Each player gets one vote. The map with the majority vote loads as the next nest.
The vote is not sequential — you do not rank candidates first, second, and third. You pick one tile and that is your vote. If no candidate reaches a majority, the outcome depends on undocumented tie rules (see FAQ).
Vote time is limited. The lobby countdown continues while the vote is open. When the timer hits zero, the leading candidate (or a random pick among ties) loads. You cannot change your vote after the timer expires, and late joiners may not get a vote at all if they connect after the vote closes.
Available maps (September 2026)
The live Pre-Alpha as of the September 2026 check includes these layouts:
Factory — Added in the August 2026 map update. This is the newest nest environment. Early community reports describe it as a larger, more open layout with industrial rooms, catwalks, and multiple vertical levels. The increased size means more sprint routes but also more ground to cover when the Locust sweeps. Introduces new sight lines that are not present in the Classic or Office layouts.
Classic — The original MM2-shaped interior that shipped with the late July 2026 launch. Darkened Murder Mystery 2 rooms with standard corridors, lockers, and utility spaces. Most players have already died in this layout multiple times, which makes it a knowledge advantage for survivors who have mapped their exits.
Office — Another launch-era layout. Similar proportions to Classic but with different room shapes and furniture placement. The office theme brings desks, cubicles, and open-plan sections that create different sight lines than the Classic house layout.
THE STALKERS OG has not published official names for these layouts. Fan names like “Locust Stronghold” or “Survivor’s Camp” that appear in video overlays are not vote-tile labels. Trust the thumbnail and your own memory, not community lore.
Voting strategy
Pick what you know. If you have already died in Classic once, you learned two exits. That memory is worth more than the novelty of a map you have never read. A layout you can navigate in the dark is better than a “better” map you will spend the first minute learning.
For survivors: prefer maps with multiple rooms and clear second exits. Office tends to have more closed doors per room than Factory, which can make line-of-sight breaks easier. If you are confident in your sprint and crouch, Factory is playable but rewards map knowledge more than raw speed.
For Locust players: Factory is a larger hunt ground. The catwalks and vertical levels create interesting chase geometry, but they also give survivors more relocation options. Classic and Office are tighter and easier to hold with a single-floor sweep. If you are new to hunting, start with the map you survived most as a survivor.
Skip unfamiliar maps until you have sprint sorted. Controls bind check belongs in the lobby before the vote, not during the first hunt. Confirm Left Ctrl or E for sprint, C for crouch, Q for push on the controls page.
What happens after the vote
Once the map locks, the lobby countdown continues. Use the remaining seconds to:
- Open the shop and confirm your Key balance.
- Check the Codes button (top-right) — no active codes as of September 2026, but the habit is worth building.
- Glance at your loadout: taser saved, camera ready, Keys in pocket.
- Think about your spawn position. In a new map, pick a room with a locker and a second door.
The survival checklist is the pre-round tick list. The maps guide covers the landmark system for reading any nest after the vote locks.
Map updates and the future
The August 2026 update that added Factory also refreshed parts of Classic and Office. Some corridors that existed in July may have been narrowed, removed, or redirected. If you learned a route from a July YouTube video, it may no longer exist. Play the thumbnail, not the clip.
THE STALKERS OG has promised more maps in future updates. When a new candidate appears in the vote, treat it as a new layout: two exits, one container, one stair, ignore the TV until the Locust is busy. The map tier list will be updated after the wiki verifies any new layout in the live build.
FAQs
How many maps can I vote for?
One vote per player, one candidate. The UI shows all available options simultaneously. You pick one tile and that is locked until the timer expires or the map loads.
What happens if there is a tie?
The exact tie-breaking behavior is not officially documented. Community reports suggest a random pick among tied candidates, but this has not been verified. If you are in a tie situation, prepare for either map.
Can I change my vote after selecting?
No. Once you select a tile, your vote is cast. The only way to change it is to reconnect before the vote closes, which may or may not preserve your previous vote depending on server timing.
Do late joiners get to vote?
Not always. If you connect after the vote timer starts, you may inherit whatever map the majority already selected, or you may not be able to vote at all. Join before the vote opens for full agency.
Which map should I vote for as a beginner?
The one with obvious indoor rooms and a visible locker bank. Skip maps that are mostly unlit corridors until you have confirmed sprint and crouch on the controls page.
Are there more maps coming?
Yes, based on THE STALKERS OG’s public posts about future updates. The August 2026 update already added Factory and refreshed Classic and Office. Check the updates hub and Pre-Alpha notes after patches for new map additions.
Frequently Asked Questions
Quick answers for nest survival, codes, and Locust hunts.
How does map voting work in MM2 of The Locust?
Players vote in the lobby before a round loads. The UI shows available map candidates simultaneously; each player picks one. The majority candidate wins. Timer is limited, and late joiners may not vote.
What maps are available as of September 2026?
Factory (added August 2026), Classic (launch layout), and Office (launch layout). THE STALKERS OG has not published official names. Fan names in videos are not vote-tile labels.
What is the Factory map?
Factory is the newest nest, added in the August 2026 update. It features industrial rooms, catwalks, and multiple vertical levels — larger and more open than Classic or Office.
Should I vote for a new map or one I know?
Vote for what you know until you have sprint and crouch confirmed. A readable layout beats a "better" map you will spend the first minute learning. See the maps guide and controls page.
What happens if there is a tie in the vote?
Tie-breaking is not officially documented. Community reports suggest a random pick among tied candidates. Prepare for either map if you are in a close vote.
Will more maps be added?
Yes. THE STALKERS OG has promised more maps in future updates. Check the updates hub after patches for additions. Treat new candidates as new layouts: two exits, one container, one stair.
