The Locust of MM2 Equipment Ranks

Taser first, camera second, cosmetics last — Keys are for time, not drip.

Equipment Tier List

Keys are the shop currency in MM2 of The Locust. They buy stun tools, a possible revive, and monster cosmetics. This list ranks those spends for the live Pre-Alpha on 30-player online servers. It is not a price dump from the shop UI; prices move. The rank is about whether the item creates time when a tall black TV-headed Locust is already in the room.

Sibling ranks: maps and hiding spots. Return to the tier list hub after you pick a loadout. Tool behavior is spelled out in the items guide. Role context sits on survivors and The Locust.

Ranking criteria

We score shop rows on three axes:

  • Clutch value: Can this item stop a grab that already started?
  • Aim tax: Do you need a clean reticle, or does the item work in panic?
  • Opportunity cost: Would those Keys have been better as a later revive or a second stun?

S means you take it whenever you can afford it. F means the spend looks like progress and still leaves you empty-handed in a chase.

S — Taser

The taser is the only common survivor tool that forcibly interrupts a hunt for about five seconds. That window is enough to break line of sight, reach a vent, or force the Locust to recommit. It is not a farm tool. Hold it for emergencies: a grab animation, a blocked doorway, or a teammate about to be downed in a dead closet.

Dumping the taser at first sight is how S-tier gear becomes an F-tier habit. If you miss, you are back to sprint (Left Ctrl or E) and crouch (C). Buy the taser before the camera if Keys are tight.

A — Camera

Camera flash paralyzes for about ten seconds when you land it. That is a longer freeze than the taser, which is why new players overrate it. The tax is aim. In a dark MM2-style interior, with TVs flickering and thirty avatars screaming, a panic flash at the floor buys you nothing.

Use the camera when you already have distance and a hallway to aim down. After a freeze, leave. The how to survive guide pairs this with chase routes.

B — Extra Keys and revive

Holding spare Keys is underrated. A revive may cost resources, and a second night is worth more than a skin. Bank Keys when you already own a taser. Spend them on another stun only if the first charge is gone and the lobby is still mid-round.

Revive is not a right. Spectate, then run the survival checklist before the next vote.

C — Monster skins and cosmetics

The shop sells Locust skins and other cosmetics. They change how you look. They do not stun, freeze, or open vents. Buy them after you can last nights. If you main the Locust (100 Robux role), a skin is flavor, not a win condition.

F — Buying Keys with Robux when you can farm

Robux Keys are a skip-the-farm button. If you can still earn Keys by playing, paying for the pile is F. Save Robux for the Locust role if you actually want to hunt.

Codes, when they drop, are the correct free injection. Check the codes hub and how to redeem instead of opening the Robux prompt. As of this writing the wiki tracks zero active codes; do not invent one in chat.

Suggested buy order

  1. Taser (S).
  2. Camera if you can aim (A).
  3. Bank Keys for revive (B).
  4. Cosmetics (C).
  5. Never Robux-Keys while farm is available (F).

In the lobby, vote the map, then open the shop. Confirm binds on the controls page. The getting started walkthrough and the tools hub planner use this same order. Spend for time, then move. A taser in a dead-end closet is still a dead-end closet.

FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

Quick answers for nest survival, codes, and Locust hunts.

Should I buy the camera or the taser first?

Taser first. It stuns about five seconds without a perfect flash. Camera is A-tier if you can aim the ten-second freeze. See the items guide for tool behavior.

When do I fire the taser?

On a grab, a blocked door, or a downed teammate you can actually reach. Do not dump it at first sight. Chase habits: how to survive.

Are Locust skins worth Keys?

They are C-tier cosmetics. Buy them after you own a stun and can last nights. Skins do not change locker checks or the Q special on The Locust.

Is buying Keys with Robux ever correct?

Only if you cannot farm and you still need a taser tonight. If you can play, farm is better. Spend Robux on the Locust role instead if you want to hunt.

Does a revive always work?

No. A revive may cost resources and is not guaranteed. Keep spare Keys (B-tier) and treat a second night as a bonus, not a plan.

Where do I plan spends before a round?

Use the tools hub planner, then tick the survival checklist in the lobby after you vote the map.
